About Boa Viagem

A dense, affluent beachfront neighborhood of high-rise apartments, hotels, busy avenues, a long urban beach, and lively public spaces. The area mixes residents, beachgoers, hotel guests, vendors, and evening visitors, with a more relaxed pace near the waterfront and Praça de Boa Viagem.

Good for

• beach lovers
• first-time visitors
• couples
• families

Less suited to

• quiet seekers
• nature lovers
• drivers

Watch out for

• Keep phones and valuables concealed, especially on the beach, near busy public spaces, and around transport or hotel areas.
• Use extra care after dark on quieter or less populated streets and avoid walking alone on deserted stretches of beach.
• Take traffic care when crossing the major avenues and beachfront road.
• Do not swim outside lifeguarded areas or ignore local warnings, because shark attacks have been reported along Recife’s urban beaches.
